Our First Review - Tomasos

For awhile now, I have talked about starting a pizza review blog, because, well, frankly, I love pizza. I don't think a week goes by that we don't have it for supper, or lunch or even sometimes for breakfast.  In fact, when I was pregnant with our first son, I craved pizza. I think I made it everyday for lunch.

So when I mentioned it to my sister, she said we should do a team blog reviewing pizza. I jumped on that because that means we will have reviews from my small little world in Ohio and from my sisters world in England! It will be interesting to see how different our pizzas will be.

Neither one of us have a degree in any sort of food occupation, but we do have our opinions on what makes a good pizza. I personally like a sweeter sauce with lots of cheese that is a little brown on top and the crust can not be greasy. In my opinion a perfect pizza can be found at Planks in Columbus, Ohio on Parsons Avenue. Their's is the perfect 10! The bar for all other pizza places to rise to.

My sister is here visiting for the holidays, so after deciding to start this blog we of course went out for......pizza!!! We decided to try Tomasos in Barberton. Now when you walk in to Tomasos you would not expect to see ivy on the ceiling with plastic grapes hanging down and strands of Christmas lights throughout the ivy, but that is what is there. Just incase you can't imagine it, here's a picture....

There menu consisted of a lot of items, but I focused on the pizza. Is there really anything else to even think about getting?? No. Back to the pizza...They had the ususal toppings to pick from and a few unusual items, such as broccoli, artichoke hearts, cauliflower, carrots, shrimp, tuna and extra dough. I'm not sure if I've ever seen "extra dough" under the toppings before. But I stuck to the usual ham, mushrooms and onions. I split my pizza with one of my sons who got salami and sausage on his half. Here's a picture of our pizza.

My sister got her pizza with banana peppers, meatballs, mushrooms and onion, here's her pizza.

Are you hungry yet??

Tomasos even makes their own rootbeer and bottles it.

The pizza was very good. We didn't even have any left to take home. My daughter ordered spaghetti and when she saw my pizza she asked for a bite of it. I gave her one bite (yes, just one. I know, that was mean, but it was my pizza and it was so good. You would have done the same thing). After she tasted it, she asked if we could come back. Of course I said yes. Wonder if this weekend would be too soon??

We would rate this pizza a 7 on the pizza scale.

The cheese was nice and brown on top, the crust was not greasy, not cracker thin, and not thick. It was hand-tossed, not chewy. One of the better ones I've had. They were generous with the toppings. The meatballs were okay, but a little mushy. The mushrooms were canned instead of fresh. The sauce, well this is where they lost a couple of points. It was not on the sweet side and it was a little too thin for me. I would like to go back and get another pizza with meat sauce (yes that is listed under the toppings) and maybe just cheese.

I will definitely go back.
